Lilac’s mummy loved our Ribbon Flower letters, but the colours didn’t suit the Harlequin la Di Da and Oopsie Daisy fabrics and wallpaper in Lilac’s bedroom.
No problem! We simply used some different colours for the ribbon flowers, and added some orange, purple and lime to the pattern mix.

Amy sent us a photo of the gorgeous fabric she has chosen for her daughter’s nursery. It’s a Michael Miller print called Norwegian Woods.
Amy requested a polka dot pattern and helpfully sent us a photo of the wall the letters will be mounted on. The wall colour is dark purple, so we used the orange, teal, cerise and lime colours…they should really pop against the dark wall.

Or, to be precise – lions, cars, trains, monkeys and elephants! And to co-ordinate with the colours of the clients Cath Kidston vintage racing car fabric.
A major consideration we have when trying to incorporate lots of elements is how to prevent the design from becoming too busy. We needed the letters to be bright and fun for a baby’s nursery, but a different all-over pattern on each letter can easily look messy if there isn’t something to pull it all together.
So, we picked out 2 patterns – polka dots and racing flag checks, and used them as a border for the top and bottom of each letter to provide some cohesion. We stuck to a colour scheme of red, primary green, pale blue and yellow from the clients fabric.
We used that border as the framework on which to then add the clients requested car, monkey etc designs. We think they’re super cute!

Adding your child’s name or initials to their bedroom really makes it feel like their own space!
Jenny got in touch recently asking if we could do Wizard of Oz themed initials for her little girls’ bedroom. We’re huge Wizard of Oz fans, so were only too happy to make something to suit the theme. We made the C in a blue gingham check pattern, and the M in red with red crystals like Dorothy’s ruby slippers….
Emmy’s mummy got in touch to ask if we could make wooden letters in a Monkey theme. We have monkey letters in green here, but Julianne was chosing blue bedding from either Pottery Barn or Next for Emmy’s nursery, and those green monkey letters really didn’t match .
We came up with these super cute letters, with a fresh colour palette of pale blue, white and coffee, with stripes, gingham, stars and polka dots. We used a small monkey motif just on alternating letters, so although they will look good with either of Julianne’s nursery bedding choices, they’re not too themed, and will go with lots of other bedding as he gets older.
Sue gave us a call to see if we could cut unpainted 3ft (90cms) tall letters, to mount photos on for her wedding anniversary party.
We are not a photogenic bunch at The Wooden Letters Company, and Stephen is the only one who could be persuaded to pose with one of the letters, to show you how big they are
If you’d like us to cut giant letters like these for you, please do get in touch, and we can work you up a quote. The letters shown here are cut from 9mm mdf, and we also stock 18mm and 25mm thick. Please note, due to the packaged size and weight, we cannot ship these outside the UK.
Kerrie got in touch recently asking if we could match any of our vintage floral patterns with the Mamas & Papas bedding in her little girl’s nursery – it’s a very pretty range called Once Upon a Time Girls
We sent Kerrie a couple of images to see, and she loved our small vintage rose print, with a cream background to match her nursery. You can see Ava’s finished letters below:

We recently had another client wanting to co-ordinate wooden wall letters with bedding from Next.co.uk – seems like that’s where lots of you get your kids’ bedding! This set is called Flower Garden and features all patterns we already had in our database.
However, we especially loved the 3d ruffled flowers on the bedding set, and were determined to create some 3d flowers of our own.
….making flowers out of ribbons! We had no idea you could do such a thing, but the internet is full of tutorials and videos and forums dedicated to just this pastime. And we’re hooked!
The letters we created feature a vibrant pastel colour palette of pink, lemon, red and green patterned wall letters. The design alternates one letter with a ribbon flower and one ‘patchwork’ of polka dots, stripes, floral and gingham.

A customer contacted us recently to see if we could make our red Cowboy plaid check pattern in a different colour combination. She had bought a duvet set for her daughter from Next .co.uk and wanted us to make letters for her little girl’s wall with a similar checked pattern.
This is the Next bedding set, it’s called Check Ruffle, and is priced at £25 for the single size:
We adjusted our pattern to the customer’s colours of lilac, pink and a little turquoise. Our customer also requested some lilac and pink polka dot patterns on her letters to match the curtains and other accessories in the bedroom, and for the letters to be finished with pink, white and lilac ribbon bows.
These plaid patterned letters are now available to purchase in our online shop HERE
